I'd carve off a city block for charity and keep the rest for myself.

Yeah, but who would want it in an ACG slab?

I'll take the Canadian $1,000,000 Maple Leaf. ;)
Than I'll take it to my local coin shop and ask for the scrap value.... hahaha!

I'd be happy with a certified MS67 1915-S $50 round gold slug, always like commemorative coins.

    There's a few for me
    1877 Half Union, Gold
    1907 UHR double eagle
    1907 Indian double eagle
    1877 50 cent pattern (J-1528)

    1849 $20 Liberty :)

Since I'm pretty sure the Smithsonian would not want to donate that particular piece to my collection, then I would settle for an 1870-S $3 gold piece or an 1822 $5 gold piece :)

It's not so much a single coin I want, it's all of them!! My ideal collection would be every year and mintmark of every denomination. I'd settle for the ones still in circulation (lincoln, jefferson, roosevelt, washington, kennedy, and pres/sac dollars). All in albums. The albums have to be from the same company, but it doesn't matter which one.

I suppose that's the OCD in me...

If it's going to be one coin out of the whole trio, it would be the 1849 Liberty Head Double Eagle, 1 known to exist and has an estimated value of $20 Million.

1927 D Double Eagle. My grandmother's birth year (she got me started with coin collecting) and the only coin from this year I will never stand a reasonable chance of acquiring.

  12. Since we are all dreaming here, I will take a 1964 Peace Dollar. :) TC

That's why it was the first on my list. But given that it rests permanently in the Smithsonian Collection, I decided to include a couple of alternatives. :)

If that coin was put up in auction, I'd buy it if I had the money. Question is, where in the heck would you keep a Gold coin that's worth $20 Million? Safe deposit box? Home safe? Fort Knox?! That would be one of my biggest concerns about owning a coin like that, let alone any coin listed in this thread, is where it's going to be kept.

Also a few others I always liked are the Olsen 1913 Liberty Head, 1927-D Double Eagle, 1907 High Relief Double Eagle, 1894-S Barber dime, and soooo many others.

I agree. Like you, I want it's value, not the coin. There are so many I like, I could get many of them by selling this coin. I especially like the 1849 USD. But I would get the SLQs, 16d Merc, etc. LOL If wishes were coins, I would have them all.

Then you'd have all your relatives, even ones you didn't know you had (maybe even some from Peoria), wanting block-sized chunks.

People have mentioned a lot of awesome coins that we'd all like for our collections but these are some not mentioned that I'd like in my collection

Confederate Half Dollar or Confederate 1 Cent Coin - for the Historical Value of the coin.
    or the
Hawaiian eighth-dollar coin, or Hapawalu - from an interesting series

Any coin that was used to 'step the mast' on revolutionary war frigates. A guy can dream right?

I have another one that's within reach 1863 Seated dollar in about 64/65 as most of these ended up over in the far east if I remember correctly. anyhoo difficult to obtain in MS grades

Those are 2 of my most obvious picks ,too. I'd also like a 1907 St. Gaudens Double Eagle, Extremely High Relief, Plain Edge, Proof.
If that's not available I'll take the Lettered Edge Variety, Proof.
