the obverse and reverse looks like a 2-1/2 dollar gold piece. the host coin is a 1861 dime. the 1861 dime should weigh 2.49 grams. the piece i have weighs 3 grams. i tried to upload pictures but there telling me that it is too large. could this be a dial strike? thinking of sending it to anacs for their opinion. does anyone know of a judd number that would match with this?
    thanks

Could be just a replica. I came across a Liberty $10 "silver" piece on eBay once -- looked like a $10 gold, but silver-colored. Seller was in South America, and clueless about US coins. I passed on it.

Try cropping and lowering resolution on an editing program. I think the picture has to be under 250 MB

Or better yet, load them up to imageshack.us

250 mb is huge. 1 mb is the limit for pics here. try changing the file type. saving as .jpg reduces the file size

    Do you mean "trial strike"?
