I just got out my coin collection my grandparents left me and my brother when they died in 03 and 07.. I have a few items i'd like to know possibly there worth if possible. here is the photo of my Silver American Eagle 1986-date unopened. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Any help is greatly appreciated.
That is the first year or the silver eagle. The packing it's in looks like it is from Littleton Coin Company and is not original mint packaging.
Is this question allowed... Where would i go to sell it?or is e**ay the only option? Im new to this and in dire need of some xtra cash..cause i got some other things too i'm fixing to post and inquire about..so any help is appreciated since i'm new to this site.
It's silver...so anywhere that buys silver will buy it. eBay might fetch you the most money for it as it might sell for a little above melt, but any local coin dealer will take it I'm sure.
also,if i am allowed.. here are some other coins..and my 2 2 dollar bills.... This is the last of what i can show,so i don't take up anyone else's time..i know NOTHING about coins, these dollars,or anything of the sort,i'm just very confused on price, what they are, etc. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I don't see anything worth more than melt. All the half dollars (1964 and older) and 90% silver and so are the 2 silver dollars (1921 and 1923). They are common dates and well worn...so they are worth melt value. You can find up to date melt value here: http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html The $2 bills and Susan B. Anthony Dollar are worth face value. The older cents, nickel, and dime are worth a little over face (the dime is silver so worth melt at least...I can't get a good look at it to see if it's a common date or not but it likely is). Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. This forum is here for learning and we are happy to help.
The bullion eagles are selling for $5-$7 over spot depending on where you sell it, i.e craigslist.com, eBay. The 86 eagles with any kind of premium over spot are the Proofs with some selling as high as $85 on eBay.
