Yes. Halves are the strangest thing. When I hold them, I get a weird electrical twinge in my wrist. I honestly don't like going through them because it hurts. Dimes on the other hand, I love them!

Same thing happens to me whenever I hold anything that's clad or zinc. :p

I bet those feelings go away when they are silver though, right? ;) ...hehe

    Mother-in-law Haul:

OK, So i told you that my wife was at her mother's house and she gave her some coins to give to me. Here is what I got:

    • 22 silver Roosies (various dates, all well circulated)
    • 2 silver Canadian dimes (early 1960s)
    • 4 Wheaties (common dates)
    • 1 War Nickel (g-4 at best)
    • 2 1964 Kennedy halves
    • 1 1959 Canadian silver half
    • 2 Buffalo Nickels including a 1926 -D (I'll be posting it later in a separate thread as it is a $100 coin in VF 20 and I want some opinions as to whether it gets there or is a F-12)
    • 8 common date silver washington quarters (4 of them from the 1940s)
    :D :) :D

As you can imagine......it made my day!

Started on a box of nickels today during lunch. First few rolls: '40, '48, '70-S (circulated, but still shiny!). I still have 45 rolls to go...c'mon war nickels/buffs/V's :)

Nice haul, Bob. All my relatives keep their coins.

    Box of nickels gave me:

    1x '45 P silver
tons of 40's and 50's but none were MS IMO, so put them back in the box.

I did get an odd strike error on a '40, a "ring" splits the words at the top and bottom. Not sure if that's a strike error or not, i'll try to post pics soon. I also got an '84 that looks entirely "bronze" Is that normal or just junk?

Not 1 stinkin silver dime in my box today. However, my husband and I went out for dinner and our change was 20 cents. Immediately, I said "give me that dime!" It was a 1947! So it makes me feel better about the box skunkage today.

Feedback if you know anything: one is my silver nickel '45, but the second is the "bronze" or copper looking nickel (both sides) and the last is the strike error (or not) on the reverse of a '40:

    The first one looks good!
I imagine the second one is just really dirty.
The third one is pmd from when the end of a roll is crimped.

Thank you. The "copper" one I thought was dirty, but when you look at it compared to my other "dirty" ones, it has a metallic shine to it, almost as if someone did something to it....I did have another one that was simply rusted, very "sand-paper" like. This one does have that shimmer, so I wasn't sure if this was someones imagination for the nickel, similar to the "gold" halves I find :)....If its nothing special, it'll go back in the box w/ the rest of them HEHE...

Nice find, I'd go back and pick up some more quarters, they're pretty tough to find.

I wonder if they would give me more since I closed my account? They were customer rolled rolls.
