Price is relative. How much is "cheap" to you.... $20, $50, $100?

I'd agree with Jcakcoin, if you're thinking under $10. Or look at foreign coins. Lots of older ones that are under $5.

An Ms-66 1893-S morgan, that's cheap to a millionaire, are you a millionaire?

  7. I would suggest a Barber half, quarter, or dime. TC

  8. Yeah, they are cheap if you don't want to see detail on the coin.

This coin was a later issue than what you suggested, but at .4 oz of silver for 8 dollars it was not a bad deal.

There are lots of foreign silver coins that do not have the mark up that .900 american coins do, with interesting designs.

I would look at the different designs and pick one you like. Many designs were featured on multiple denominations and thus a well circulated example for melt won't be that expensive if it's a dime. So, first figure out what design you like and go from there.

You can get a late date Seated Lib Dime in EF-ish for around $30. Like old stuff? 1500's Hungarian coins can be bought for $15 in AU

My vote is for Walking Liberty half or Mercury dimes!
