Well one other item I cant seem to find info on or price. I know the geniral price rule about first day covers . But as it has a medal it might be different. Would appriciate all info Siggi
This is not a coin...it's a medal as you know. I am actually someone who has great interest in manned space exploration but I don't know about this specific piece. Pieces like this seem to typically be very common and not worth very much to collectors of space memorabilia. One place I know of that might be able to provide a lot more information than you will find here is this website. http://www.collectspace.com/ I am a member there, my username is "RichieB16."
Thank you, Before I register on a different site i´m going to see if someone here knows this at all. I know first day covers were a popular hobby and the numbers are in thousands but because of the medal it might hold a tad bit more value Siggi
If any of those first day cover medals actually does have some real collector value, it will be this Moon Medal . IMHO
Hi Siggi, here is what I have found so far I don't if it helps at all, I though finding info on Icelandic coins was hard Holy Cow! I'll keep looking though http://buy.id.ebay.com/buying/en/di...rst-Man-On-The-Moon-Apollo-11-Medal-FDCs-Lot2
That's not necessarily true. The moon landing was the highlight of the space program and as a result many commemorative products were produced in very large numbers. Other mission pieces might have much lower production and thus be far more rare and valuable to a collector. It just depends on the piece.
Its like the old saying goes.. Its really only worth what someone is willing to pay. Great detail on the medal and that its unique. I would say you will do just fine if you deside to part with it.
This is one of the tougher ones but not especially scarce. This is just another case of the supply dwarfing the demand even though I'd guess the mintage in the 4000 area. You can buy it retail when you're lucky for a dollar or two and it might bring a good price (5-$10) on eBay if two people who want it see it. There are few enough they won't show up very often.
