Isn't that just the way! Yesterday I find a chalk picture on the sidewalk that my teen helped the 4-YO with.. it's ME surrounded by boxes.. the boxes have paper $, and round contents with C in the middle.. and I have a loop in my hand. The only thing missing is my wife hitting me with a rolling pin. I found this thread.. searching. I was wondering if other people did cases cuz.. well.. theres 12 cases waiting for me monday at the bank. They say they can't get 2007's reliably.. but I only wanted 2 cases to be new cents. crazy is as crazy does I guess.
Last summer I got into this kick of going to the bank and asking for large amounts of rolled coins. They thought I was crazy. The biggest return on intevestment I thought was the half dollars. In any given roll, it is not uncommon to find some 64's a lot more 40%. Every now and then, I found a Franklin or Standing Liberty. After several weeks of doing this, I ended up taking them down to a local coin shop to trade them in on the silver value alone. I ended up walking out with a very nice - dealer graded AU -1829 half! Whether or not it was AU, it was very close and it only cost me a fraction of what he was asking. Now that's a deal!
Thread from the Dead..aiight. I buy boxes atleast once a week, I too have a lot of time on my hands (free time, while at work! Haha, nothing better to get paid to roll search). I hoard all the 2009-2011 pennies, along with the wheaties, and foreign. I have never found a dime in a penny roll!! Maybe it was just in the previous years back.
I have to say that my 14 year old daughter is a "Penny Junkie". I go to the bank once a week for her and buy 4 boxes of pennies. The tellers even right messages to her on the boxes. I noticed a few years ago that it helps calm her down on bad days and she has been doing it ever since. She has found a handful of "Indian Heads" and is always finding wheaties. She has me post boxes of copper pennies online for her and other coins she thinks might bring a pretty nickel. Its funny how many single pennies she post's and dont sale.. Whats even funnier is how many boxes of just copper pennies she is able to sale. Next time she goes through a box if I remember I will have her post on this thread.
No, have her post in this thread instead; http://www.cointalk.com/showthread.php?t=10176 This thread was dead for like, 4 years until someone decided to randomly post in it. I am also a hardcore cent searcher, I can give her a few extra valuable coins to look out for.
You can buy boxes of pennies $25, nickels $100, dimes $250 and quarters $500. Halfs really depend on your bank but most will let you order a bag $1000. When it comes to bills or notes you can ask if they have any funny money.. most tellers will tell you what they have weather they are in sequential order or sometimes $2 bills. Most tellers are more then willing to get rid of any "Funny Money" they may have. Most don't like to have to mess with it. I also have a ton of Iks not that they are really worth much. But Kids love them under thier pillows after losing a tooth : )
Pretty much anything. Depends on the bank though. I live in a relatively small town so I don't come by many Halves at the bank. But when I do I snatch em up. Same with Ikes. Odly enough I'm not coming across many Sac's either. Still got the presidential dolllars though. I've got a teller who has a stash under his desk just for me .
