Recently, I purchased a very nice Feuchtwanger cent for only $96.00. This thread is dedicated to the coin that I searched years to find. If you have a Feuchtwanger cent or three cent, post a pic! Wave over the picture to zoom:
That's a very nice coin you've got there. Certainly a bargain at that price. If it were mine, I'd send it in for authentication and grading to either NGC, PCGS or ANACS, just to be on the safe side. There aren't many of these coins around that aren't slabbed and a cautious buyer would insist on a graded example. I know I would. Where'd you buy it? A local dealer of yours? A friend? An auction? eBay? Curious minds want to know... Bruce
This was my only example, bought it cause I thought it looked cool and I never had one before. But the novelty wore off a bit so I traded it at the last Long Beach show for some stuff I just wanted more Maybe I'll regret it someday as it was a cool piece and I haven't seen many I liked better:
Is there anything that you could like better than that?! Nice Feuchtwanger! I have one, but I store most of my collection remotely and can't get to it easily. I need to do like you...keep my coins just long enough to photogragh them, then move on. Btw, (way off topic) I have a nice 1804 C5 "Spiked Chin" half cent that's beginning to show some verdigris. Do you know of anything that will remove it and prevent it from coming back? ...without damaging the coin, or course.
eBay. I got in a long bidding war. Everybody gave up after a while. I bought this the night of the Pro Bowl, and it was hard to pay attention to both at the same time.
I thought this was of interest. While doing some sleuthing for examples and varieties, I found that the Grove Minting Company has a Feuchtwanger Proof Commemorative being offered in .999 Fine Silver. The design looks STUNNING! I asked when it might be available and got a response stating that the online store should be open for business by mid June of this year. I can't wait to get one! Their website is http://www.groveminting.com Here's a photo I found: cheers, jager
