I have 6 or 10 coins or so that have doubling on them, most of them aren't listed as doubled dies though. Are there still DDs out there that haven't been found do you think? I know there are a lot of kinds, i'll see if i can get pictures of them and maybe someone can give me a heads up as to what they are. Do the initials under lincoln ever double? Here's the only 2 quick examples i could get for right now. The first is from 1995.

I'm sure there are! I have 9 specimens of one (not a 1c) that I have yet to submit for authentication. I've had them for a number of years, but I'm such a procrastinator.

I agree with Chris. Although there are a lot of MD coins, especially cents. I have a few that do not seem to be MD and I cannot find listing for.

Besides the MD on the first coin there's plating issues in the second one, some refer to it as 'split plate doubling' and even 'die deterioration'.
And yes there are new varieties found, ask Ziggy he's found one recently.

So that's MD on #1 and some bubble reaction on #2 then? I only have 1 other photo right now, i wasn't going to post it until i was able to get a better one, but you can still see doubling on a couple of the branches and leaves, there is more there than you can see in the pic, even the wings and head have some doubling. Is this MD too? I'm going to have a hard time getting pics of those initials, but i have 2 pennies that look like those are doubled too. I'm in the process of trying to locate a decent camera i can use for a longer amount of time, those are still good pics for a camera on a phone i think though :).

That's cool, are they all the same error or 9 different ones?

Doubled dies are considered a variety, not an error. A variety is considered an acceptable tolerance. For example, the normal Mint tolerance for a rotated die is 15 degrees. If an error is caught at any point during the minting process, it is usually removed and destroyed. An example of an error is a coin missing the clad layer. Some collectors believe that it is harder to find errors than it is to find varieties.

Yes, all 9 have the same hub doubling. Once I have them authenticated, it's going to be interesting to see what happens.
