I have decided to put together a number of albums of Nat'l Park Quarters for grand children, nieces and nephews. I have mint rolls of all that have been released to date, but no albums. I don't know what to buy. It'll be P, D, clad proof and silver proof issues. Please take some time to advise me. What do you recommend? What are the pros and cons of any particular brand? As always, thanks!
I got my 9 year old son one of these. http://www.whitmanbooks.com/default.aspx?page=80&SubCatOID=117 I think they're not just a collecting folder but also a good educational tool. The kids learn where the parks are located but also a little history to boot.
I like littleton folders the best. They have a very clean and proffesional look unlike whitman and they fold up into a very neat and organized book. Since commercial brands like whitman and dansco most likely dont make albums wiyh p,d as well as clad and silver proofs, maybe you can get some blank quarters albums and write or stamp in the mintmark under each hole. -Ryan
I like the Dansco for all four issues of each quarter. Dansco album 8146 gets the first five years done. The album has a description page that gives details about each National park and then it has a page for 4 coins across (P,D,S,Silver) and 5 down for each release for the year. I used the same type album for my state quarters....great way to review. Take a look online to check it out.
I got a big blue Lighthouse book for my quarters. That's the one I liked the best but it's kinda expensive. The smaller books might be good for kids but I just liked the sturdy quality of this book. Plus it looks nice.
So far, I've looked at Dansco #8146 (thanks for that review howaboutatrade). It's at Dansco Album store for $20.97 and (coming soon to) Wizard Coin Supply for $18.99. It comes in two books, so it is twice that to do the whole set. I've also looked at Littleton. Their #BB463 is both books for $44.95, just a little more expensive than the Dansco, and about the same quality, but three ring bound. Both of these are good because you can see both sides of the coin and they have the plastic slides to hold and protect the coins. I'm not fond of the ones that are splashed with color and are geared more toward children, despite my sets being for kids. They will grow up and I think that at that time they, too, will prefer the more adult looking books. I do appreciate all of your responses, though. They were all valuable. I'm not putting an end to this yet, so if anyone has more info, please send it along. Thanks everyone.
If you are doing it for grandchildren/neices/nephews I HIGHLY recommend this folder/map from Whitman. I have one and its perfect! I also have the State quarters map by them and the quarters never fall out and stay in perfectly. It has a piece of paper that tells you about each park. http://www.amazon.com/National-Park-Quarter-Archive-Map/dp/079482885X Im 18 and enjoy these folders very much even if they are a little colorful.
