A local guy offered me this lot for $525, it doesn't scream DEAL OF THE CENTURY but it's interesting nonetheles... any opinions for my Cointalk friends? Thank you... Anthony set w/ S,P & D (3 pc. set)
I haven't priced out each set , but just a general comment. These almost assuredly won't appreciate in value and unless you must just have these sets, I think you could put that money to better use.
If the 1990 was a "No S" Lincoln proof set, that would be one heck of a deal, but I doubt it. I'd bet that all of the proof sets are clad, and you can get most of them for $6-$7 each. The same goes for the mint sets. The only mint set that would really interest me would be the 1987 because the mint didn't release the P&D Kennedy into circulation that year. If they graded MS67, they could be worthwhile. I wouldn't pay much more than about $300 for the whole shebang. Chris
The bulk of this lot are uncirculated mint sets, and the price he is asking for the entire lot is a bit high.
Not a great deal but not a terrible deal also. If you want these for your collection versus reselling them then I'd offer him around $450 or so and see if he bites. Also make sure the '96 sets have the W dimes.
I just priced all of those sets from two local dealers I do business with regularly and they were within $2 from each other, for a total value of $372.50.
