These are the only bills in the box my Dad gave me. Are these worth keeping? He gave me a bunch of $2 bills (dime a dozen on those) And the collection goes on and on and on.........
Your Dad gave you some good stuff. The large bills are quite rare. Welcome to the world of Numismatics.
I just adore Large Size Banknotes.... The $1 Silver Certificate signed by Woods-White was orinted up to 223,472,467 notes. Yours has the common tri fold in it and may be in the grade range of VF. The $2 note is well rather worn and is the last $2 Large Size note of this type to be printed It was printed to 173, 416,000 notes and may possibily range in the good to fine grade range. Anyway, I suggest that you keep the notes and study them, the men behind the signatures, the engravers, the time period in which these notes became issued. There are several types with different color serial numbers and seals..make for interesting learning. RickieB
That's what I'm talking about Rickie! Learning is what the human brain is all about, and what it does best! Those are keepers in my book!
PLUS 1 to everything that Rickie & Ron said........being that they were your fathers is another reason to hold on to them.
I have to agree with the fellows above. These notes had a special connection, so just in that they should be worth keeping. As for value, I'd say that the $1 is in VF-XF condition and worth probably around $60. The $2 is worth about the same in that condition, maybe a little less.
Thank you to all above for the info, and RickieB I will research them (just like my research on coins)
I think they are absolutely worth keeping. Large US notes are some of the most beautiful notes ever printed. They make wonderful additions to a collection. Plus, these came from your dad and thus likely have more sentimental value then anything else. I would keep them for sure.
