Interesting Hong Kong Coin - Variety, Error Or?

Well Kanga, I just looked at my 19th Century Hong Kong Pennies. Yours looks like an error coin. Pretty neat!!!

 

it looks like a forgery to me, the errors are far too pronounced to be true,

I have not seen this Hong Kong coin before.

Columbia has many blundered dates on their coins.

I repeat, I have never seen or heard of this Hong Kong blundered date before. Did HK punch the dates in to the 19th Century dies where this type of variety could really happen?

Here is my 1877 Hong Kong cent for comparison. The style of the 8 & the 7 look different to me.
