The 1941 penny is different as the 1 is missing off of the date so date shows 194.

The 1952 penny is uniques as the 2 is missing off of the date. date shows 195.

Any idea if these are worth anything?

Show some pictures, they could just be heavily worn or tampered with

Sorry, I don't have a means to take pictures of the coins. We have found these exact coins in oddity coin books... The coins are in great shape and the numbers are not worn off. The last digits were not printed. We just can't find out what they might be going for. Thought someone here may be able to help.

Howdy Paco - Welcome to the Forum !!

Coins such as you describe are oddities yes - but they are also quite common. The missing digits or letters are caused by the coin die being clogged with dirt, grease or debris when the coin is struck. Some folks on ebay will pay a dollar or two for these coins, but, most folks will just spend them as they really have no value.

If the two is missing, how do you know it's a 1952? :)
In any case, whether by wear or a filled die, these are common and not worth a premium.

We know the 1 and the 2 are missing making them 1941 and 1952 because we found them in an oddity coin book telling us which ones happened this way. Well, were novice collectors and I thought and hoped for a windfall. Guess we just have 2 cents. Thanks!

I'd be curious to know what book that is, and how on earth the author of that book can be certain that there were no coins struck from grease filled dies in 1940, 1942-51, and 1953-59. [IMG]

    Hi,
Actually filled die errors like this are known to occur for almost every date of coin. There was an old error/ variety book by Frank Spadone that may have listed something like just 1941 and 1952 cents. We've come a long way since that book was printed.

    Have Fun,
