Alright guys and gals, so I am in the process of trying to ship slabbed coins that I have sold on Ebay. If I were to put a slab in a 4 inch by 7.25 inch bubble mailer, cushioned package and ship it within my country (United States of America), how many stamps would I need to put on each envelope in order for it to be shipped properly? I do not have small scale to weigh the slab so I am not sure how to calculate how many postage stamps to put on each package. REPLYS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IF RECEIVED QUICKLY! Thank You in Advance, Brian
Depends on what type of coin is in the slab. Usually I figure 3 oz for halves and dollars in a slab and 2 oz for smaller coins. But I always print my postage through ebay so I get the delivery confirmation. Costs $1.75
I wouldn't want to ship most slabbed coins without insurance, which (as I understand it) requires going to the post office. If you don't use tracking or delivery confirmation, you don't get any protection from eBay. If you don't use insurance, you don't get any protection from the post office. If you don't use both, you don't get any protection from unscrupulous buyers. Go to the post office. Send it with confirmation and, if they're valuable coins, insurance.
Stupid question, but why not just send it over the counter at the post office? No hassle other than having to deal with the postal employees (most of whom aren't too difficult to deal with).
"I never received it. I want my money back!" (Hey, check out my new trade dollar. I got it for a great deal!)
If you purchase postage through ebay, you get delivery confirmation for .19 mandatory, and you can buy insurance as well. With the delivery confirmation ebay seller protection is up to either $200 or $250 . After that They require insurance. You can also buy the signature confirmation. Saves a lot of time running back and forth to the post office.
Thank you for your quick respose ! Do you think you could post a picture of what the shipping label should look like on the package? And you are saying with this label I do not have to include any stamps on the package? -Brian
