Hey friends! I know the Russian coin market is pretty hot right now. I picked up this piece which is kind of scarce in this condition. The coin catalogs at $140 in XF and $300 in UNC. I think it's a nice AU. I know that some stuff these days is going for much more then catalog and I am wondering if this might be one of them. Is anyone here familiar with the Russian coin market? Thanks in advance!
Jezzzz Dutchman this is a nice Rouble. Have you checked out Heritage (Russian auction)? They have gotten very pricey indeed.
I collect only Russian coins, and I actually have one of these in my collection. It's a 1913 commemorative 1 Rouble to celebrate 300 years of rule by the Romanov family (1916-1913). As far as value goes, this coin in any appealing condition goes for at least $70 to start. Your piece is an XF, not an UNC unfortunately. Although the side with the eagle looks great, the one with the portraits of the two czars has some wear on it, specifically Nicholas II's nose, ear, hairlines, eyebrows... This is my piece, you can compare the two and see the difference: As far as value, yours is between $100-$125. I would suggest weighing the coin if you have a chance, and posting images of the edge inscription. The eagle side looks fine, but for some reason the Czar's images look like they have a bit of a cast look to it, lots of tiny bubbles... I think it may just be the camera? Either way, it's always best to be sure.
