Oh I believe it genuine but the seller destroyed it along with the unc FE by harshly cleaning them

Yeah, it looks like someone introduced that large cent to "sink scrubber". Ouch.

I say fake. The details just don't look right, as well as the date.

What's wrong with the date? Looks like a Large Date to me. Breen writes that there are (at least) 6 obverse dies known for the large date.

In my opinion, it looks to be a genuine coin. It's just that someone looks to have "whizzed" the coin exposing the redness underlying the previous layer of the coin to would have had the patina. A coin with that little detail should not have that much redness.

font on the reverse looks odd to me. wear also seems unnatural, but that could be due to whatever they used to polish / scrub / sandblast the coin.

I don't see anything to indicate the coin is fake.

The reverse font seems to match up pretty well with my 1842 Large Date. The only letter that looks questionable to me would be the "F" in "OF".

Looks real to me. Appears to have had XF details but then someone decided to brighten it up with a brillo pad and now it's hardly worth the copper content.

Looks real to me, XF-40 details, harshly cleaned, net VG-F worth about 7 or 8 dollars now.

Someone was trying to remove some spots and killed the coin.

Genuine. But a train wreck. At $10 it's already overpriced.
