This is a tough coin in proof with a mintage of just 400 pieces. I am going to be taking this coin to Chicago and letting NCS fix the spots. The reverse has no problems. I can usually take care of haze myself... but sometimes spots caused by something sitting on the surface can be a pain. I figured with such an expensive coin I'd let NCS do it. I just wanted to take a before picture and then when I get it back I'll post an after.
That's a beauty Dutchman, and well worth the cost of conservation. I can't wait for the "after" pic. Bruce
Numismatic Conservation Service. They can professionally conserve this coin and remove the spotting without damaging the surface or finish of the coin. They are a branch of NGC.
:thumb: Matt wow nice snag 1 of 400 Proof! there a lot folk that would pay you big money just to have it raw! Can't wait to see it when it gets back
Gotta love TPG's its a sin to curate your own coins. But its OK for them to do it and charge you for it. Dutchman love the Cinco Onza. I have her baby sister. The most beautiful bullion coins ever minted.
And now you see the point of this entire thread They say they can do it.... Lets see if they can do it...
I thought that milk spots were struck into the coin and therefore part of the coin and impossible to remove.
This isnt a milk spot... there was a little speck of plastic or something on the coin that caused a spot.
