It was fall 2010, and I was attending the Collectorama Coin & Currency Show at the Lakeland Civic Center and I met fellow currency collector on vacation from Iowa. We talked for awhile and exchanged email information, and I sent him a "want" list of the 4 notes I determined were the most rare and valuable as far as what I was assembling. He said he had them all and wanted them to sell as a group to a collector, and not to be resold for profit. I had to buy them one note a month, and have kept my promise to him. The first note is the only WEB Star note printed, 1988A Atlanta (F*) I thought of Chris (Krispy) when buying the second note, 1985 St Louis Star (H*) The third note is an upgrade to an XF note I already had, 1981A Dallas Star (K*) The forth note is ranked #1 by Bob Azpiazu's Guide as the most valuable, 1988 Atlanta Star (F*)
Congratulations. It's aways nice to see someone complete a collection that they worked for a long time to achieve
I knew you must have had this one! That is so excellent! Congratulations! So does your contact have any more of them? Also, I'm curious if you will be resubmitting these to PMG or PCGS for their certification, grades, brand on the holders? I guess you've been spending a lot lately on notes... and might want to do that only when you've taken a little break from so much spending. Really really great notes to see! CONGRATS Steve! It's a nice dream addition to a collection come true! :smile
My contact in Iowa has other $1 FRN's, like the 1988A New York Web note B-L, and the 1981 Minneapolis J-D note, but I already owned some of these, and passed on buying them because some notes I can't afford to have more than one example. If you want Chris, I can PM you with his email.
