I bought a 1979-S 10C PCGS PR69DCAM Type 1 off of eBay and received it today, of which btw it looks great! I want to know if I did good or not and if anyone can tell me what the current value of it may be. I paid $12 plus $5.60 (expedited shipping) for it. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I'll try to get a picture of it up here tomorrow!

I dont think that is a good deal especially since I am seeing them for $8 and $9 + $1.99 shipping.

I agree. Some local prices on both PCGS and NGC slabbed dimes same year, grade, and designation are minimum $7.75 to $9 and no shipping.

Well, to be fair, this was my first graded coin. And, it isn't like I paid a lot more than what it is worth either. Thanks!

Actually, you did slightly. With the shipping it was $17.60, and what Shoe and I are saying is there are much better deals on slabbed Roosies, same grade and designation. With shipping from eBay, $9-$10, if you find them locally from a dealer, and most dealers have them, deduct the shipping cost of $1.99 from the $9-$10 ;)

Well we all live and learn right? Still a pricey dime either way.

Your cost is still probably cheaper than sending a raw coin to PCGS for grading.

I know you must have been in a hurry to get your first graded coin, but it's a waste of money to pay a 50% premium just to have a coin shipped to you a little faster.
If it's any consolation, Coin World's Coin Values is showing a full retail price of $20 for a PF69 DCAM Type 1.

I know everyone always includes the shipping fees as part of the cost of the coin. But if you are a long way from a coin dealer or need transportation to one, those costs could very well exceed shipping prices. Myself, I know the costs I pay for coins is excessive. But since that's the one way I can obtain them now while prices are low across the board because of the economy, I also buy.

I believe it is better to buy now, if you can, than wait months or longer and perhaps see prices climb. But, I can say one thing with absolute certainty. "I have never made a purchase where someone didn't tell me they could have gotten a better deal". Be it a house, car, dog or coin. Only you can determine the value of your circumstance and purchase. IMHO
