I have found what appears to be a collection of old presidential coins, probably from a set. It was found in my grandfathers footlocker from back in WWII. Examples are James K. Polk, 11th president on front and "young hickory" on back with a biography of him. I have coins of Adams, Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, and Tyler, all with the same design. Is there a value to these. If not, how old could they possibly be. They are all in real good condition
Welcome to the neighborhood! These are probably medals rather than coins. Some of the older ones that were struck in the 19th century might have decent value, but we'd need to see good photos of both sides to be able to help. Chris
Epd394 I have uploaded a couple of samples the best I could. I tend to think it is possibly not a coin but some sort of medal. I just have no idea.
Unfortunately , I don't believe there is any great value in these that you provided the photo's of. They do appear to look like Aluminum Store tokens . Besides these, anything else in there ?
I appreciate everyones input on this. We buried my grandfather yesterday and me and my dad were looking through a bunch of his military items, and we found these tokens or whatever they are in his footlocker. I guess I was pondering on where he would have received those tokens from back during the war. Thanks everyone
It's very possible that wherever he may have been stateside stationed, the local PX may have offered these after an amount of purchases . Just a thought. Let me also extend my condolences for your loss for you and your family.
