Has anyone ever found one of these things roll searching or in change? If so what year did you find it?

You asking about two different coins right, one from Philly and one from Denver (in coin collecting the hash / sometimes means an overdate like a 1942/41 dime)

The 1950-D's were snatched up by the boat load soon after it's release in 1950 (hoarded) so not many were found in circulation whereas the 1950 could be readily found for decades later. I would guess the last time I found a 50-D was in the 70's, yeah, that far back. Just the other day I saw a 50 Philadelphia and I used it just like any other nickel.

I've found a few of the P's....never a D though. I keep them if I do find them.

Never found either in circulation. My best nickel finds are one war nickel and a 1938. To be honest I don't devote very much time to roll searching. I found the silver in restaurant change and the 38 was out of a vending machine.

I found both in change actually, not roll searching. Back around 1970 - 72. I say that because I quit collecting for a long time at the end of 72 and I spend 67-69 out of the country. I have both in my set.

I have yet to find a key date jefferson for my collection. As far as i am concerned there are 9 key coins to the Jefferson nickel collection. To me if a coin has a lower mintage than 10milion its a key. I have a friend that has found 2 of them forme from tha same batch of $100 worth of nickels. Right place right time. I will keep at it and keep my fingers crossed

No '50-D's, for me. Ton's of plain old 1950's though. I've gone through north of $6k in nickels.

10 million is a lot of mintage. But I can see why you would toss those in a bowl.

LOL. Those search number really add up quick, don't they ? Since I completed the nickel set a while back and very rarely find anything better than the coins I already have, I don't do a lot of nickels. Just a few rolls to break things up. My last 10 rolls were all 2010 D unopened NR String bank rolls. I haven't opened them either. May just dump them next trip. Like a catch and release fish or something.

If you wanna trade, I'll swap 6 bank rolls of 2010P for your 2010D's.

found one 1950 D in Daytona Beach about 5-6 years ago looking thru my grandmother's change she got from stores

she always gave me her change because she knew i worked on my coin collection. but she has passed away a couple years ago. :(

the 1950 D nickel looked like it just came from a collection Snowman

I was lucky enough to get one pretty banged up 50D last week in change. It is one ugly Jefferson.

1 '50-P and zero '50-D's. And I've been looking forever. I think I've found many multiples of everything else except the '39-D.
