I am just starting coin collecting and received this as change from a purchase today, but my research so far seems conflicting. I am questioning if the "9" has the right curve.
That is a large date. Look here http://lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1970Ssmalldate.html or if you really want to get into them see http://www.cointalk.com/t93080/
Large date. The 9 curls to where it is pointing just above the "S" but still below the 7. On a small date the curl would point inward more towards the middle of the stalk on the 7.
here is an excellent website with pictures that make your research much easier http://www.lincolncentresource.com/
Large. The first place I look is the height of the 7. Then at the curl of the 9. Then at "Liberty". You can also tell by the inside corner of the 7. On a large date it will be a straight pointy corner and a small date will be round.
