#1- If you don't know what it is, how was it determined to be authentic?

#2- If you don't know what it is, how was the price determined?

I think that just 1% wuld be fine in my book. However, I can't believe that someone owns this and doesn't know what it is, not even what century it is from. The engraving of the die was too good for 15th century.

You can't without some careful study. Look for "cast" small bubble marks. If it's a valuable coin, you can bet your last dollar that someone has made a counterfeit of it ... usually Chinese.
