Can anyone give me some feedback on this coin left to me...grde or price...any help Is much appreciated
no id ever clea in but i also saw that i really dont know if its rust or something spilled on it. Under magnification it actually looks like a bit of glue...which kinda stinks but whatever i got it for 30 dollars at a paw shop...actually i got 2 of them just figured it was worth the money for a better date....the other is in a little worse condition but not much.
sorry correction i just added an 1893-cc that was a pawn shop score this coin and another i added recetly were left to me..my fault
i usually can make a guess at what a morgan dollar's grade should be...i would call this coin xf45-au50 but this is what i always do i can never decide which it is when they are close calls....this particular coin still has great luster and that mixed with the poor strike of new orleans coins just baffles me i dont know if it is true wear or poor striking.
If it is a weak strike that area will have luster across it if the coin is uncirculated. If it is wear the luster will be broken at that area.
ok i think i understand. i definitley believe it to be circulated but the breast could be flatter resembling an xf rather than au if it has a weak strike and some circulation right? Im trying to learn how to grade better ive read the books but it comes down to experience i guess. Anyone wanna put their opinion on grade?
YEA HE IS A JEWELRY BUYER REALLY AND HAS NO CLUE. About coins other than their bullion value. And for that matter he makes a killing and pron doesnt care
I think he meant "prob" Hobo. I'm guessing as it is next to the N, and he must be in some kind of hurry.
ahhh yes have some patience with me i am sometimes using my phone for this page because i may be at work(barber) so i dont have access to a full keyboard!!lol and yes it was prob i am also being affected by all the texts i write.
have you ever tried?ive hit up every pawn shop within 20 miles ive had some scores not huge but many mint state examples of commons or beat up scarce no 1895's tho lol
Now I'm REALLY confused... your initial post indicated that you didn't know what you had... yet this post indicates you DEFINITELY know what you have. And, yes, I go to pawn shops looking for coins regularly. It seems most of them only buy gold. The few that buy coins are collectors... so they don't sell what they buy.
Ahh i dont see qhere i wrote that. I have many morgan dollars. As i said that you may have confused was that i needed help with the between grades and what it would be worh in tje condition it in. If you would like you can read the original post. Ofcourse i know the coin. Grading is tough for me and prices vary from xf toau or vf to xf....is this what this website is about? Correcting my spelling and typos and interrogating me own my k.owledge of my purchase. I simply asked for some peiple who are more experienced to share some knowledge and insight. But i got more respnses on details that really have no relation to the question i posed.
