Hi, Could some one give me the production info for a 1935 series D 1$ note serial # B 99917360 C ? Doe this high serial # mean it was cut from a sheet? Thanks in advance for the info!!
A good resource on paper money is: http://www.uspapermoney.info/ A page relating to 1935D Regarding the serial number, until 1974 or so, serials up to 99,999,999 were used. After that date, various cutoff numbers occurred (see Serial Number info for more details), so it is considered a normal run note.
Way back in the days of small-size $1 Silver Certificates, the serial numbering went all the way to 99999999 for individual notes printed for circulation. By 1974, the BEP stopped the serial numbers at 99840000 for individual notes printed for circulation. Higher serial numbers were used for uncut sheets. So, theoretically, there could be 82,639 notes higher than yours, and I doubt if it would carry a premium.
