Well my weekend hopes of roll searching is dumped. Called every bank in my town and the next two over and nobody has halves. So disapointed. I need to find a bank to order a box!

    Desert,

I too am planning to roll search this Easter weekend. I'm going to load up on some dimes since halves are so hard to come by. Hopefully I'll get another roll of silver dimes.

    Well, it happened

My major supplier of my halves boxes told me today that they will not be ordering anymore. MAJOR BUMMER. They said it got too expensive. So, I picked up two boxes and the first was a skunk....I'll report on the 2nd one later.

$4 in loose (all 1 dollar coins) 2 clad Ike's and 2 very worn Peace Dollars (I think) from 1922 and 1924. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also as a beginners observation: I've scored more silver from loose change than from rolls (so far).

Hey everyone - I'm new here, so I've been looking through some of the recent posts. A lot of you seem to be searching dimes. What's the general level of success there? I've gotten boxes in the past and found a few silver roosies, but have never really thought the return worth the effort.
I mostly do nickels and cents these days, with the occasional box of halves, although I never seem to get anything anymore. years ago I was getting 2-3 boxes of halves a week, but I stopped doing that about 2 years back as it really started drying up.

Happy to oblige...they are REALLY worn, but very valuable in melt value...especially for 2 bucks!!

One box of dimes, 1 roosie.

Nice find on the Peace Dollars, I've yet to find any silver dollars and I've picked up hundreds in ikes.

Thanks, Merc! I was pumped when I saw them in the corner of my eye, knowing they were NOT Ikes :). Teller just "had them laying around". However, I have not been so lucky with dimes...so far probably $200 in CWR, nada, skunk...not even 1 single roosie.. :(

I've probably gotten about a dozen Ikes as freebies from the coin counting machine over the years. I've had it happen a couple of times where they were stuck or otherwise rolling around inside the machine only to have the teller give it "back" to me (even though it was in the machine before I got there) and tell me I can't put "silver dollars" in the machine. Each time my heart skips a beat thinking it might be a morgan or peace.

Do machine rolls, not customer rolls. I have usually had MUCH better finds in machine rolls.
I've gotten a few here and there. One of the free ones caught in the machine was a '72 Type 2. :D Sold it for $40.

Eh, not like you were finding tons of silver, though, eh?

Are machine rolls the same as BWR's? Basically the ones w/ clear plastic on them?

Depends on which bank you go to, some are paper that is machine crimped, others are clear, yes. I've found it doesn't really matter which one you use... my best find from dime rolls ever came from paper rolls, but the three follow-up finishers were all plastic rolls.

Maybe thats my problem. I ask for ONLY CWR's. Skunked all the time. I'll try a mix of BWR/CWR next time I give dimes a shot.

Any luck w/ quarters? I noticed most on this forum don't have luck w/ quarters, but the other day my father got one from a circle K and my mother (they are divorced) too got one from a change transaction (they don't collect)....wtf? LOL

One per $1k searched is my typical result.

    Machine rolls as well?

Everybody saves silver quarters... Machine rolls have always produced better results with quarters and dimes for me.
