I just received a flyer from the Littleton Coin Company that they are selling the Complete Year Sets (1999-2005) Uncirculated Statehood Collection plus a free gift for only US$12.95. Now these quarters WILL NEVER BE MINTED AGAIN!!!! Lets see. US$1.25 x 7 = US$8.75. Should I order some before they Vanish??
Yes and quickly! Not more than 4 hours ago I saw 4 of them vanish into a vending machine with my own eyes!
For a Littleton buy this is quit good. Normally you should expect to be paying around 25-30 dollars for this set from them. So you might want to jump on this before the supplies run out.
Especially with that free gift - it might be another valuable "never to be minted again" coin - maybe even a pre-1980 Philadelphia Jefferson nickle with NO mint mark!
Better start saving those 2005 cents, heard that the dies were retired and they will never, ever, neva, nope, no way, no how ever be minted again.
bruce-doesn't have both P and D mintmarks. I ordered the same thing from Littleton. The day it came I picked up the package and felt coins rolling around inside completely loose. Opened them up and saw a lot of blemishes and contact marks. It's a good buy if you just want a complete collection and like to look at the designs. But I didn't want them. Gave them to my mom and she put them in her "Littleton Archival Quality Folder" and thought they looked 'neat'. Three weeks later they don't look so 'neat' with toning on almost all the coins. Don't buy it...besides, I think it would be fun (and challenging, especially for the earlier dates) to try and put your own set together. Bill

I get these mailings all the time. Yesterday, I received one which stated that the Morgan Dollars were fast disappearing (Duh), and one should jimp on the bankwagon quickly before the "hoard" of 3,000 plus was completely sold out. After all, these beauties are over 100 years old, and a part of U.S. History. Their choice of date and condition of course.
I looked around for about 10 minutes and found several sites offering complete sets (70 coins) for $50-55 but I'll bet if I spent 10 more minutes,I'd find them for less. http://cgi.ebay.com/Complete-Set-35...86207299QQcategoryZ105645QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://www.iccoin.com/co70panddust.html OK...15 minutes..I'm getting old.. http://www.workingmancoins.com/ForSale/Quar50St.htm
You can get all 70 statehood quarters premium quality brilliant uncirculated coins. from Paul sims for $34.50 this is a very good company with outstanding service. I have purchased many coins from Paul very nice people. Look in any coin magazine for there add.
Not bad, almost a hundred % mark-up, and lets not forget the $4 or $5 postage and handling charge. Come on guys, look arouond and you can do a lot better!:kewl:
True, but if you mint trillions of something does it matter if you never mint them again? Those things will be around forever. Centuries from now metal detecting entusiasts will dig up a stathood quarter and go, "dang, I was hoping it was something good!" p.s. I know that the total statehood quarter mintages are going to be in the 45 billion rangs, but it seems that they're everywhere, so a little exageration seems to be in order.
If you buy your slabbed ms69 quarters NGC from Coin Vault on shop at home on stretch pay, you can watch them go up in value as you make the five easy payments! lol
So there really are people that buy from Littleton. If the coins are cheap they will probably want a thousand dollars for postage. After all the complaints on this and other forums about that company, just can't believe anyone buys from them.
check the fine print I received the same mailer. Buy purchasing this set you agree to enrolling in their coin club. I believe they send you coins on a regular basis that you have to purchase or send back in a timely manner. Kinda sounds like that old Record or CD Scam.
