all clad? all 40%? circulated? unc? mixed dates...? specific details would help get you an accurate answer.
Hmmm seems okay to me. My local shop sells Ikes for $1.75 a piece. This is the price for pretty nice coins too, I'd say AU55 at the very lowest, from what I saw in stock. Most are near uncirculated or better. I don't mind paying .75 over face, since that's where his profit comes from, so 100 of those would be $175, although I would never pay that. I guess it's prefernce though because I know some people think Ikes are only worth face, unless they're proofs or super high grade. If it were me I would pay $130 for 100 Ikes, but I'm not in need of 100 Ikes, so that is hypothetical.
$.75 over face for clad Ikes, is way high. I think the highest I've seen $100 bags of clad Ikes around me is $45 over face.
I realize it's high, but I don't mind it. Plus I only bought one last time I was in there. The shop is great and he said he has over ten thousand Ikes, so he realizes the profit he can make off of selling them all at that price. I don't blame him for that at all, and they are nice coins. Keep in mind he is selling these raw because of the thousands he has on hand so of course there will be a mark up for single coins. I wouldn't buy 100 of them at this price, but I probably wouldn't buy 100 in general anyway. If a clad Ike books for $1.30 I'd rather eat the extra $.45 in order to support the shop and have my face known. IMO
I can find BU to AU ones at local coin shows for $1.25 each. I can cherry pick them to get the best ones. Can occasionally find them at local banks at face value but are usually well circulated.
some of the local coin shops give out well circulated ikes, jfks, and two dollar bills in change. one shop has a bunch of them in 2 by 2 cardboards for a buck fifty. I have some coworkers who buy them from me for a buck and a quarter when I get them.
