I have a big jar of change I need to go through before I spend it. So, I'm thinking of this book as a reference for what to look for. I doubt I'll really find anything but I think it would be a very good exercise and a good way to build awareness of what's out there everyday. Does anybody disagree? Also, I'm thinking of buying the Kindle version. Does anyone know of any drawbacks to that over the hard copy? Thanks. Looks like a wonderful book, a bit grandiose with it's claims to get rich but what the heck somebody found and sold these types of coins, you just may have some in your jar.
It looks like an interesting book for varieties I agree. But, I highly doubt you will make the money spent on the book back with what you find in the jar. Although the search would be fun. Just don't expect to find much.
It's a good book and I can recommend it but there are two caveats with it; More importantly it doesn't list all the extremely valuable coins one might get in circulation. Also, though, is that the coins it does list are most improbable to appear. There are large numbers of coins in circulation with significant value that don't warrant mention in this book because they aren't worth lots of money but you can find far more readily. And there are numerous coins that will have big premiums in the future. If you really want to "strike it rich with pocket change" your best bet is to go ahead and buy the book but also start folders for circulating coins. This will provide a ready reference collection and help you spot the coins that are different. Some of these that are so "common" just might have real value some day since so few of them have been saved.
