What's the catch with these 'Gold' coins

    This is posted right underneath the description
    UP FOR BID - Very popular all america 1978 KRUGERRAND GOLD COIN This coin is 10mm 0r 3/8 of inch in diameter. This is layered with 10 KT Gold. IT comes in the coin holder shown.

    And the Mexican coin is also layered in 10K GOLD.

    I wasn't really sure what that meant to be layered. So I guess it means it has very little gold in it.

    "Layered" in 10k gold is one giveaway. It's not solid, but plated. Very little actual gold. Also, correct me if I'm wrong:

    aren't Kruggerrands made in South Africa, not America?

    They're junk. Plated junk.

    Nobody in their right mind would start the bidding for authentic, real Krugerrands and Maximilian gold coins at $.99.

    I think they would go for the gold(pun intended).
