    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

    Just found this: http://www.propertyroom.com/ItemDetails.aspx?l=7909416
    and it made me wonder.
1.How could anyone know that any particular coin is
    a first day of issue?
    2. If this is the 583rd coin ICG graded, how could they
have known that there'd be a total of 972 in this grade?
I guess there really is a sucker born every minute.

Yes, I do know that NGC and PCGS would not grade this higher than 65.

I occasionally look at that site because sometimes, although rare, there
are good deals to be found.

    1. I believe they were delivered to ICG on the first day or something along those lines. Just like First Strike or Early Release at PCGS/NGC respectively. They each have their own rules for submissions to get these designations.

    2. Purely guessing, the 972 was likely from one submission. A lot of these coins are sold on cable TV, who submit large amounts of coins to be graded.

Submitter sent in a large number of coins, say 972, on the first day they were released by the Mint with postmark proving first day of issue. This was coin #XXX of the 972. Happens all the time with bulk submitterrs
