1919-D Liberty Standing 25c. ENOUGH DAMAGE FOR A "GENUINE" SLAB???

    Very true, and don't forget a dateless chain cent too, I know they slab those. Another thing to mention is that TPGs will slab with date and variety a completely dateless(even without nic-date-treatment) 1916 ddo buffalo nickel! They can figure out the date and variety purely by the doubling. I'm of the opinion that if a coin can be identified with 100% certainty in spite of incomplete date data, it should legitimately be able to be slabbed by all of the top TPGs. I thought this was the general rule with TPGs, but I may be wrong...it should merit some follow up investigation.

    Consider the variety issue - PCGS will only slab, and note on the slab, the major varieties that are listed in the Red Book. But yet there are thousands and thousands of other varieties.

    We can all say that the TPGs should do this or they should do that, or we can say they shouldn't. But they do what they want to do. And until they change their company policies due to customer demand (and they do that too), that's all they will do. What any of us says or thinks has little bearing.
