Will this grade (cross?) to NGC or PCGS?

I recently picked this up for a lot less than it books for. I was expecting a lot less coin, but this one surprised me. It has descent luster, but definitely better on the reverse than the obverse. That alone makes me kind of suspicious. Does anyone see anything keeping it from grading, of better crossing, to NGC or PCGS?

Could it have a slight rub on the cheekbone???? And maybe a spot removed center obverse?

I do not see a rub - anywhere. However, the spot removal is a distinct possibility.

Thats a generous grade numistrust assigned. Don't think that will cross to that grade .

I just saw the slight discoloration on the cheekbone... I thought it might be a rub...

I understand. It is so difficult to see minor variations like that from pictures.

BTW, If I were to grade it, I would think awfully hard about a 65. I would probably go with a 64, though, because of the luster.

It is however better then the normal for them.... at least this one appears to be uncirculated... ;)

True. I don't deny it's an unc specimen , but at very best I agree with Rim that 64 would be fully graded.

If you want to cross it for your personal collection, then I would submit it as a "cross at any grade". The fact that NTC gave it an MS65RB means absolutely nothing to most knowledgeable collectors and dealers anyway. I would rather have it accurately graded by a top tier service. However, if you're contemplating crossing it for resale, you run the risk that it could lose a point and the submission fees could negate any potential profit you may have gained.

If I were to only lose a point, I would be elated. I said I got it cheap. I could easily pay grading fees and still nearly double my money if I got a 64. It cost me less than $50 so, regardless, I think I did well.

Very nice coin. I think you would have a good chance at 64 cracking it out.

I think he has a good shot at 64 without cracking it. Why risk accidentally damaging the coin yourself when the grading service will crack it for you? NOTE: Just to be on the safe side, take plenty of photos before submitting.

I think when they see it in that Numistrust slab they just about take 2 points right off that top. Just my perception.

I would crack it out yourself and submit...based on pcgs photograde; you'll get MS64. Nice score BTW!

Looks good to me, nice coin. I'd resubmit, should be good for a 64RB at minimum....NICE SCORE!!!

If sent to ngc it would have to be cracked, they only cross pcgs coins I believe...might be the same for pcgs

It might go to ngc and return back as a 65

And another spot directly above in front of the hairline ?

I agree. No cross on this one. Or at least there shouldn't be.

Great pic-up for the money you spent. I too believe it has a strong chance at 65...
