I searched $12 in penny rolls over the weekend from the bank. 7 wheats (all 40's & 50's) total, 25% copper coins (approx 6 rolls worth). Found about 10 very nicely toned AU coins, and a really nice MS 1982 copper cent, 5 1969-1975 "S" mint coins.

Weird thing was all the wheats were in 2 rolls. One of the jackpots was 2 wheats back to back, surrounded by 2010 shield cents. Very strange roll searching. One of the wheats was a 1957-D that is red/brown, some mint luster, and I would consider it AU, almost BU. How does this happen?

Also found a 1972 that it appears is a doubled rim. Is that even a DDO variety? Everything on the coin is fine (no doubling) but the rim is doubled.

I found this '45 nickel while doing a box of nickels. I'm not too good at determining grade, but does anyone think the grade of this coin would warrant anything above spot? I haven't seen a war nickel this nice before - at least not in circulation. Not sure if it has been cleaned or altered.

Toss out an opinion if you have one!

That's a beauty for a roll find, probably worth at least a few bucks over spot.

I'd pay ya $5 for it, no questions asked.

    Merc,

Do you order your boxes of cents, or just go into the bank
    and ask for them?

    I just walk in.

I should note I typically never go to one bank more than twice a week, and if I do go to a bank twice in a week, it's only banks that usually have a lot on hand anyway due to local businesses.

Todays searches netted me 11 rosies, 1 40%, 1 war nickel, 1 bufalo that the teller just gave me.

OK gang, this is a follow up to my own post back on 4/3/11. Yesterday, I met the Deputy from the Starbucks a while back. He was willing to give me the coins but I wanted to give him something of value for him and his family. So I gave him 4 tickets to last nights Astros vs Cubs game and $50 cash for his family to have a night out. In return, he gave me the 6 Morgans he found along with a 1944 quarter.

    Score for us both!

Today was the first day a bank turned me away when asking for change because I didn't have an account. I've gotten warnings before ("Usually we just do this for customers, but we can do it just today for you."), but never been turned away, and for just a box of cents, no less. Oh well, it was bound to happen.

On a better note, I did my first box of halves the other day, and got 2 40%ers. They came in the last 6 rolls too, so it was really nice seeing those after 44 rolls of nothing. I was pretty salty by that point, but the first 40%er put a smile on my face.

That just happened to me today as well!! Mine was at BoA, but I explained to the lady rejecting me that the other branch had no problems exchanging with me...oh well, thats how it goes! Definitely not the attitude that would want to make me get an account there now :p

I haven't posted in a while because there has been nothing worth mentioning. Its been some time now since I've found a silver and I've been doing 2-4 boxes of halves per week and hitting a bunch of banks in my travels. The northeast is dry. I think the commercials on the radio and TV have everyone who might otherwise cash in at the bank thinking twice.

The stuff getting turned in at the gold/silver/coin shops because of the prices right now is crazy. The other day at the coin shop the owner was showing off some of the antique silver tea sets and platters that he's buying when people just come in to get the sivler value...sad

Screw BAC (Bank of America), I hate them for reasons beyond roll searching.

Hit up some random banks, found about $30 loose in teller trays. One bank had about $5 face in 40%'ers, score! Another bank had $5 face in those gold-plated counterstamped 1983's in mint state, haha. I'll sell 'em somewhere, I guess.

Two boxes of dimes were skunks... oh, wait, until the last roll, that is. '39-D. :D My fiftieth Merc found in rolls. Was nice to see that after 99 rolls of nothing but clad crap.
