I'm not really a paper guy, but I do keep things I recognize as unusual or interesting, etc. So yesterday I was talking to my mom and she says "Oh I was thinking you might like this". So she pulled this note out of her wallet and said " I got this from a parking garage. What does the star mean?" Immediately I reached into my own wallet grabbed a dollar and said "I'm gunna be trading you for that one." She laughed and said she figured I'd want it. So afterwards, I explained to her what the star meant. Even though it's not a coin, it's nice to have my parents looking out for change finds. And DARN! It's almost a repeater too! I was pretty excited about this. It was the first time I'd ever seen a star note in circulation, and only the 2nd I've ever seen in person. It's not in amazing condition but I'm keeping it.
Evil, congrats on your find! I remember the first star note I got in circulation and it was like winning a lottery. Well, not like Mega Millions or Powerball, but like a scratch-off win. Yours is in pretty decent condition which is even better. It's always nice to have others look for you, so be sure to get them something extra for their birthday or other holidays!:thumb:
Thanks Dr Kegg! I'm not really a paper collector but I know enough to keep me from passing up good stuff. :thumb:
The first one I ever found in circulation came after years of buying them from dealers and/or getting them at my local bank. I was down in D.C. with my wife and cousins and I got two in change within 2 days! Once at a restaurant and the other from a cabbie. I was ecstatic!
Very nice. I keep my pocket change, including excess bills that I didn't put in my wallet, in a box on my dresser. Pulled all the $1s out the other day ($283) and decided to flip thru them to see if I had any silver certificates, rarities, errors or stars, and found two stars.
