    Thanks to everyone!

I still don't know the whole story behind the design of the Oregon Trail Commem. Supposedly James Earle Fraser and his wife, Laura Gardin Fraser, collaborated on the design, but I've also heard that design concept was principally that of Laura. Does anyone know of a good resource for the historical background of the Oregon Trail?

Absolutely beautiful addition. If you don't mind me asking, how much did this set you back? Feel free to PM me if you do not want it as public info.

I've always loved the OTs and would like to own some nice examples. I only have one, and it is in rough condition (got it for $1.00 at a flea market several years ago).

I just didn't see that many that I liked, and the ones I did find nicely toned were in major auctions where they usually went into 4-figure range. As I mentioned at the outset, you can find blast white specimens at any given time on eBay, but I don't care for them.

You're right in a way. I don't collect the Classic Commems in the sense that I'd want to build a complete set. Some of the designs, to me, are down right ugly or boring. I currently have the Stone Mountain (Stonewall Jackson is my great-great-great uncle), Texas Centennial, Pan Pac Expo, Illinois Centennial and the Columbian Expo, and there are only about a half dozen others that I want to add to this collection.

That's a beauty! :thumb: I'm gonna get one as well, I had won one on ebay but when I rec'd it it didn't look like the pic at all (had ugly toning) so I sent it back. May take me 6yrs too but I'll find one. :D
