1845 Large cent PMD or ???

    I have had this one hex 45+ years.last nigh at the our locale coin club meet. I carry this with me.I am still not nor is the club what this mark is counter mark or PMD???
    what do you think????

    Looks like PMD to me, but can't say 100%.

    It almost looks like there's some type of design jello, but really not sure. My first thought was that it might be a small federal eagle counterstamp like those commonly used by gunsmiths and lockmakers, but it's just to hard to tell. I think I'll go with PMD too...with reservations.

    just looks like a gouge to me. the whole thing is pretty nasty.

    I may not be 100% PMD, but I am 99+%. What during the minting process would make the sides of he hole go up.

    I heard this one about federal eagle 50% of the time
    I do not know. It not wroth $ to have graded,so I guess only the coins knows??:foot-mouth:?
