I just found something amazing in circulation... its a 1963 B Barr note. and its in XF condition!!! whats more .. its a star note. I have a tough enough of a time finding star notes, but to find one in this condition and its a Barr note... it freaked me out. I entered it on heres George website, but its this bills first entry.... It will be its last too me thinks, im not going to spend it For anyone else who wants to check it out, the serial is L44852067*
Weird same. Sort of I picked up 2 Barr notes with consecutive serial numbers at work. Crisp as a 2001 series one. Not star notes though.
Joseph Barr was the secretary of the treasury for 63 days at the end of a presidents term in 1963. he was subsiquently replaced at the start of the new presidents term. The notes printed during his 'reign' are few and therefore command a higher premium.
The star will make it worth a little more, but unfortunately, Barr notes do not carry much of a premium. Why? Too many people had the same idea and hoarded them, so finding good examples of Barr notes is relatively easy. Crisp $1 Barr's run about $2-$3, stars are about double that last I heard. Now, don't get me wrong, doubling your money for nothing is always good, just don't get your hopes up that these will ever be worth big $$$. Cool finds though, keep em coming
I guess that now only in the USA and perhaps Switzerland is it possible to get such old money from circulation.
i have this major problem, i can never bring myself to sell anything in my collection... so any 'net worth' increase that results in this particular Barr note.. will likely only bring a profit to my Estate Inheritors :eat:
