I have several coins that my Greatgrandfather had on a piece of string for a play toy for his baby sister. They are 1856 half dime, 1837 dime, 1857 dime, and an 1875 dime. They all have a hole in them that the string was ran through. Do these coins still have any value other than thier personal value? I also have a Morgan Dollar that was in in a fire and has a couple melt damages along with discoloration.

The holes drilled through these coins have pretty much relegated them to melt value, unless you find a collector who is interested in "holed coins". I'd have to see photos of the Morgan dollar. Sometimes, fire-damaged coins can be conserved, but it really depends on whether the value of the coin will make it worthwhile.

The story that goes with it is interesting. I would string the coins together, print out the story and keep them together maybe in a shadow box or frame.
