Hey guys. Im so excited because i just found out that there is a coin show about ten minutes from my house every month. I went today and got a beautiful uncirculated morgan dollar with cartwheel luster for forty dollars. The seller labeled it as BU but on the pcgs photograde it is in perfect comparison to an ms64. Is there a difference between these two grades. I know you will want pics so ill post them soon i just wanted to know how to tell the difference between a BU coin and an MS coin

Yes there is, typically a BU would be closer to Ms-60 to Ms-62. Ms-64 would be Choice BU

Technically there is no difference between a BU coin and an MS coin for they are both uncirculated. They essentially mean the same thing. Any MS coin is BU, and any BU coin is MS.

But Zach is correct in that many use the term BU to define coins in the lower MS grades.
