Beautiful, beautiful SLQ. I love that subtle rim toning. I guess it at MS63.

Do you believe it to be full head? Just the slightest wear on the head and a micro-milimeter of flatness means no "FH" on the slab. I would like assurance, although I understand if it is difficult to tell due to poor picture quality. Also, thank you for commenting :)

The prices on these really came down the last two years , I bought a PCGS 65 FH for $ 900 when atwo years ago you couldn't touch one for under $1400 , it was un upgrade to my MS-64 FH bought 4 years ago for $750 , If it grades at 64-FH around $650 to $700 . All were same year date type 1 from Philly . Best place to check would be Heratige archives , it's free to join .

Wow! Thank you for the info! The interesting part about this coin is that it was listed as a "High AU".

Tough to tell from those photos. Per the ANA grading standards for FH it needs: "All details in hair are well defined, hairline along face is raised and complete, eyebrow visible, cheek rounded."

This coin looks to meet all of those requirments. Do you agree?

I think so from the photos. I just looked at the "zoomed in" version.

If you got her for high AU you did great . Picks are hard to grade from , you have her in hand . But she looks MS to me . And FH to boot I have a type II 1929-S , NGC MS-63-FH that I bought way before I really knew what FH meant . It's lucky if it's 3/4 FH . On the '17-P type 1 the tpgs are tougher on FH designations because it is by far the best struck coin in the series . But I believe yours is a FH easy .

Wow! Awesome! I have these pictures, but I have not purchased the coin yet. It is up for bid on a local auction website (that, by the way, very few coin collectors visit) as "High AU" with no reserve. I figure since the seller says the coin is only AU, that that will push people to bid on it at more of an "AU 58" price range. Thanks to you and other helpful CoinTalk members, I now hold precious information that (probably) no one else knows, and it may lead to an AMAZING DEAL! Thanks! :D

But like I said , grading from pictures is hard to get right , but even if that coin has some wear and is an AU-58 it's still a really nice AU . The only way to grade it for sure is to have it in hand . I'd bid AU-58 money for it and a little more because it is a nice piece and could be MS . Remember there must be a reason the seller is calling it high AU .

Thanks for the info. I wish I had some way to compare this piece to other AU58s and other MS61/MS62, but I am having serious trouble find other pictures of examples online...and PCGS PhotoGrade only shows the Type 1 varieties to VF30 grade. Do you know of any websites that would have detailed photographs of grade AU and MS Type 1 SLQs? ...Or it would be nice if someone were to post some examples of slabbed AU/MS 1916 or 1917 SLQs.

...Also, what would you grade this beauty at? Again, sorry about the poor quality picture. You see the design on lady liberty's shield with the oval shape with a union shield within it; doesn't that oval need to be completely whole for it to be an MS coin on the Type 1 variety? This coin has that, but the previously posted one does not. That is the only thing I am worried about... :(

Please give reasons why you chose this grade. I believe the second one to be a MUCH higher grade to too bolder detail and less surface contact. Makes sense, correct?

I can't tell the grade from that pic really well and I just caught a glimpse, so I just guessed low. After looking at it longer, you are right- it is a nice coin

Thank you. And please, next time, examine the photos as much as possible so there is no further miscommunication on the thread and that, since I have not yet purchased EITHER of the coins stated, I don't make a wrong decision from the result of just one CoinTalk members opinion.

    Thanks Again :) ,

PS: CoinTalk members, PLEEEEEEEEASE leave more opinions on the coin! I enjoy your input.
