I have wanted a Julia Paula for close to a year now & finally acquired one. It has some wear but the price I got it at made it much more attractive. This is a big want I can finally scratch off my list.

Pics were taken with my iphone 3gs, best I can do and some photoshopping.

Really? That god is pretty common among empress coins. This is my third empress coin with concordia. Its even on the last thread I made, Lucilla ;)

This coin is also the the 4th scarcest empress in the severan period.

They are rare to me Mat, because i only have a female image on one Roman coin and that one is St. Helena the Mother on Constantine the Great. i do have many ancient Greek coins with the female image.

Ah, well I have a soft spot for roman empresses. Thats why ive been dragging my feet getting Elagabalus, Severus Alexander and many of the common 12 Caesars & Adoptive Emperors.

Just curious, what does a silver denarius like that typically sell for?

@Ripley, nope, only early emperor I have is that vespasian. I know tiberus is fairly common but the others are usually too much $ for me.

@gopher29 A silver denari can run anywhere from $20 for a poor specimen to thousands for prestine/rare pieces. But most can be had for under $45-$100 depending on what you want.

Vespasian Mat, I have a couple of nice denatius of him. Funny thing about that emperor is that he liked to have himelf in various poses on the reverse. IMG_0552.jpg IMG_0551.jpg

Ive seen some of the reverses mention him seated. They're cool but seem to go for alot just like the judea ones.

I'm still looking for a nice Judea Capta one of him, but they seem a little overpriced to me, so I'm in no hurry.

Nice coin though mat, is this your favorite female? I tend to fancy Faustina II, she be lookin' good :p

I need both Faustina Sr. & Jr. but since they tend to be fairly common. I havent been in a big rush. Plus there is a some reverses I favor over the more common types.

As far as the attractive females on the coins, I like Julia P. & Crispina, whom I dont have. I like Sev. A. wife, Orbiana, her portraits are attractive. Shes just pricey though, min. $400 for a fairly decent one it seems.

I pretty much buy what I like, but as mentioned, have a soft spot for the empresses.

There is a nice Gratian that popped up I am considering at the moment.....

I like Agrippina myself :D The Judea Capta coin do seem quite a bit over priced, even for ones with very little detail.

Her marble busts are nice too but her coins...wow pricey from what I have seen.

    Severina is pretty rough >p

Well you guys can have the empresses. I'll take the Greek Godess "Athena" anyday. Love those Amazons. :D

Haha I like some of the greek goddesses too but they sometimes surpass prices I want to pay, especially greek silver.

Many greek bronzes seem to go high on ebay, dunno why. I watch many.

Wonder when someones gonna come in and say Gorgon was hot....

You should know who :D. I AM the gorgon guy on here. I love Medusa coinage. I just don't like collecting the greeks because of heavy fakes, but eventually I'm going to get a roman republican cordius rufus type or the plautius plancus.

Wouldnt mind finding a cheap Pontos Amisos with nice detail either, but I don't like the design of her on that one, so it's not high on my list.
