Hi everyone Well my new addition isn't a rare Icelandic coin by no means, but is rare in this grade. As some of you may know that high grade coins,, Or at least coins graded by NGC as such for the Icelandic Kingdom Era 1922 to 42 are very hard to find above a MS-62. The coin I just added is a 1942 5 Aurar that was graded a MS-64 RB, Now since NGC has become more strick in there grading of world coins A MS-64 would have been a 65 a few years back. Now of all the 42 5 Aurar I have seen and have in my collection ,,,And I have seen and own a few of them over the years this is the finist one I have ever seen and I got this coin on Ebay for just above the Krause book value plus the grading cost,,,So it was a great deal. Here is a picture of the coin in meantion.
Beautiful coin Iceman, These are very hard as you say to find in such good condition. Congratulation on a good buy
WOW, Iceman thats a beauty! Nice find, Congrats! Nice Photo too. I'm going to another coin show tomorrow now I have something else to find. Mark in NJ (the one with a HUGE smile on his face)
Thank you Guys....Its been a long road finding this one. I first came across this coin when I checked the NGC population report on March 28th and a few days later the owner listed it on ebay. I check both NGC and PCGS for Icelandic coins that has just been graded ,,hoping they list them. I just coudn't wait to show off this coin,,,I will be getting it on Monday according to the tracking,,,,,It better not get lost in the mail.
