1960 D Sm Date Double Die Cent

    Found this one searching rolls this morning. I found one on Copper Coins but not like this one.

    60-d Small Dates are common, it's a 60-p that are harder to come by..Check www.coppercoins.com and see if it is a listed die variety.

    I realize all that . my point is it's a double die.

    I suspect it is not a DDO. Hard to tell without it in hand. The date always catches people, as the inner tip of the "6" looks doubled on the end, but a good % of circulation 60-D sm. date looks like this and is blamed by some as die deterioration. The "0" also has a slight indentation around near the center of width, but it too is a common appearance, maybe due to the hubbing process. The "WE" is interesting, but doesn't appear to be DD either.

    The 60-D proofs did have significant doubling, as several working dies were hubbed with one size date date and then the other , so several type III dies of sm/lg or lg/sm.

    RLM knows I love the only MS that is both DDO sm/lg date and RPM D/D. :) Here is one of mine.
