...Hey CoinTalkers! I would love to get your opinions on the B-E-A-UTIFULLY TONED 1958-D Washington 25c. certified MS66 by NGC. What is the maximum you would pay for this lovely coin? Thanks Guys & Gals, Brian
this is the thing with toning. it is worth whatever sone one will pay for it. to me, the obverse is just plain ugly
That Washington does have nice tone, but it's not that nice to spend over $80 on it. NGC values that coin at $45, with the tone, I would go no higher than $60.
Based on what BUncirculated said, with it having a value of only $45, I honestly wouldn't pay any higher than that for it. The reverse toning is very nice but the obverse toning really decreases the value (if you are even raising the value in the first place due to the toning.)
I would not buy it at all... If there were two iden next to each other. Id buy one with a nice luster ... toned coins have a market , but just as many are turned off by the toning I want my silver ... well silver. not like a coloring book
