This is one of my better "V" nickels. I know it doesn't look much good with all the crude or discoloration, but in hand it looks to me to be in Fine condition. I am thinking about cleaning off the crude. Any suggestions on a very mild solution to make this a better looking coin ?

I don't think there is any "mild" solution that will remove that crud and discoloration.

Yeah, that one is way too tarnished to do anything "mild". Any dipping you could do to remove that would certainly damage the coin.

Looks like it might be pitted. I would not clean it.
