Do you think the Washington/Eagle Rev. quarters are going the way of Standing Liberty's ? With no end in site of all the new State & ATB quarters being produced I see a phase out of the 1932-1998 Eagle reverse quarters and wonder if this is the time to hoard away as many as you can.
I might be more inclined to hoard them if there hadn't been quite so many billions of them minted, or if they had any intrinsic value above the more recent ones. When copper and nickel start to be viewed as "semi-precious metals" and the composition shifts to steel or aluminum, then I'll hoard. Maybe. But I'd be hoarding the other designs just as avidly.
The silver are already being hoarded. As to the clad, I'd probably only keep the really high end ones that you find, or any varieties if you know what to look for.
Think about what your saying for a second. They may have made "billions" BUT your comments are absolutely the same as thousands of collectors and hoarders that camme before you. "What's the point?" As a result, finding these coins in MS rolls is a bit more difficult than folks might assume and some of the dates are just downright "EXPENSIVE"! Quite frankly, I see no reason NOT to stick some of the better grade clad coins away since the early years are well past their 30 year lifespan and before you know it, finding these may prove difficult unless you've got some deep pockets to go searching.
