I recently found this coin 2 months ago and had 4 experts have it, all of whom worked for ANACS and or PCGS at some time. All 4 agree to its authenticity as a legitimate OMM D over S. The coin has since been sent out to Cherry Pickers to be authenticated and classified and then will be slabbed by PCGS. It also has doubling on the obverse , mostly in the date but unknown if MD or DD. Still its a nice coin and I'm looking forward to having it put up for auction once it is slabbed . Here is a look at the coin.
I've searched everywhere possible and havent found any 1937 D/S Buffalo that was acknowledged or classified
I don't see anything that resembles an S. There may be another D possibly mixed with some die deterioration. The crud doesn't help the pics much though, so who knows it may be an S, jmo...
Hello Lincolnlog5, Thanks for posting the coin. I am curious. What is the mechanism for sending a coin for authentication & classification to Cherrypickers? Do you call someone first or is there a Website you go through?
I don't believe it is either OMM. The underlying "s" is too small to be a "S" ,according to the size of the D, IMO. And the slanted body of the "S" is too far to the right if it was. I think it is die deterioration since the "E" in FIVE also shows similar deterioration. But of course, I have not had it in hand like I suppose the experts mention did, It is just mny opinion looking at the photos. Good luck. Jim
