Hey guys, I grabbed a stash of rainbow Morgans at the recent Baltimore show. I've got 6 pictures of the same coin I'm throwin' down on ya. Poll : tell me which picture you like the best. Also, grade this reverse if you like. It's an 1883-O. Here's #1...
I like #6 the best, but I get the feeling that the colors are actually a little more vibrant than what you've shown us. It looks like it might be a Tid-E-Bowl with the irridescent blue around the perimeter moving to a honey-colored center. Perhaps it needs better lighting. Chris
I don't think those are your pictures. I know you can do better than that - all the pictures looks so flat and no luster at all. All the pictures made me think AU for the reverse and I doubt that.
#2 is the most flattering to the coin, but #5 would be the one I would want to see if I were considering buying the coin as I think it probably shows the coin the way it would look in hand. If I saw #2 and based my purchase on that pic, and then when I got the coin in hand and saw all those contact marks on the eagle - I'd certainly not be happy ! And neither would the seller when I got finished. This thread is an excellent example of how different a coin can look in pictures just from ever so slighly changing the angle and the angle of the lighting. Everyone should remember this thread whenever they are making a purchase decision based on pictures. It doesn't even look like the same coin - but it is !
